How long does it take to get a temporary spouse visa for Australia?

My partner and I are applying to move to Oz, I have an Australian passport but he doesn't. I was wondering how long it will take to get a temporary visa approved, as we want to leave in 3 months and its cheaper to apply outside of Australia. How long does it take to get a temporary spouse visa for Australia?
If you've been living together for 12 months or more (married or not) and can prove it, you will probably be able to get his visa within your 3 month time frame, but you'll need to be able to satisfy Immigration that yours is a ';genuine and continuing relationship';. Be prepared to provide copies of joint lease agreements and joint bank accounts; at least 2 statutory declarations from adult Australian citizens or PRs who have known you in your relationship for over 12 months and anything else that will satisfy DIAC that your relationship is genuine and long standing. I've heard of people taking photographs, emails, letters and concert ticket stubs along to their interview. The more proof you have, the less likelihood there will be delays.

If you mean a visitors visa then not long at all, phone the embassy , I would say max a couple of weeks, Brits do it all the time for holidays etc.

Just a little tip, A 'temporary' spouse just doesn't sound right , how long are you intending to keep this temporary spouse for?

Good luck.
I think it can be done in about three months.

I did just have to check on the immi site for the right wording, after reading some comments, but yes, the correct term is:

Temporary Spouse visa (subclass 309).

After 20 years it does make you think though... ;)
You've got a temporary spouse?? Half your luck. Mine's permanent.
