Can you and your spouse claim the same children as dependents if you both provided for them for 2007?

My spouse and I are filing 'Married filing Separately' this year and was wondering if we could both claim the children as dependents since he paid for the childcare and some of the clothes but I provided everything else such as food, living quarters, clothes, school expenses. Can you and your spouse claim the same children as dependents if you both provided for them for 2007?
Nope. A child can only be claimed by one person.

You'll encounter a lot of disadvantages to ';Married Filing Separately.'; Please make sure this is in your best interests before filing. Can you and your spouse claim the same children as dependents if you both provided for them for 2007?
no

each child can only be claimed once by everyone combined.

you have to decide who will claim each one. it does not have to be all the kids with one parent.

many families model out this portion of their returns and choose the way that gets the largest total refunds.
Nope, IRS will flag the SSN when it is used.
You cannot both claim the same children.
NO! I'm not sure what benefit you would have to file MFS unless you both have large deduction that you can itemize.
Well, my answer is : I don't know. BUT I'd sure be asking my accountant because you should be able to claim the children if you both contribute to their support. You might have to each claim a child. Maybe H%26amp;RBlock.com can help answer this.
NO.
